Edmonton Garneau is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, situated south of the North Saskatchewan River, north of 82 avenue up to 109 street, and north of University Avenue and west of 112 street. Garneau is located immediately to the east of the main University of Alberta campus.

Real Estate: Majority of single detached homes are bungalows and 2 storey built in 1910’s up to 1950’s. In the past few years, some of these homes have been torn down, giving way for new construction. Most of the apartments in the area are low rises built in 1960’s and 1970’s and some high rises which can be found along Saskatchewan Drive overlooking the river valley, High Level and Walterdale bridge.

Schools: University of Alberta main campus, Old Scona Academy, nearby McKernan School, King Edward Elementary and Junior High, Queen Alexandra School

Amenities: most of the stores, offices and small businesses are located on white avenue and 109 street and 112 street, Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market, University of Alberta Hospital, Cross Cancer Institute.

Transportation: LRT Station at University Campus, buses on 109 and 112 street, on 82 and 87 avenue, Calgary trail and Sasckatchewan Drive.
