  Parameters of central downtown include from 109 and 97 street to 105 and 97 avenue.  Though Fort Edmonton was established in1795, the Town of Edmonton was actually created in 1894 and city status was obtained in 1904.  As of 2009, approximately 11,000 people inhabit this area, which has more than doubled since 1986.  Although most of the residential real estate is apartment condos, there are single family detached homes and townhomes available
